Çalışmalarına 2007 yılında, büyük bir online sanatsal platformda (www.artmesh.org) başlayan Artists for Peace grubu, sanatın "Barış" temasıyla ilişkili konularla ilgisini destekleyen uluslararası etkinliklerin organizasyonunu gerçekleştirmek amacıyla kuruldu.
Erivan (Ermenistan) NPAK / ACCEA - Armenian Center of Contemporary Art 04, 05 ve 06 Aralık
Not: Bu festival tamamen sponsorsuz, kişilerin kendi çabalarıyla düzenlenmektedir.

FOCFEST: A Brand New International Festival of Video Art!
A group of curators and artists, within the international community Artists for Peace (www.artistsnpeace.com), promotes the achievement of a new international audiovisual festival focused on civic intervention based on a broader view of the humanistic principles of freedom of choice, peace and human rights.
Initiated in 2007, in the midst of a great artistic online platform (Artmesh), the Artists for Peace Group was founded to accomplish the organization of international events promoting the link of art to the issues related to the theme of Peace. The group includes all existing artistic currents and styles and recently joined up with other sister organizations to work together in the completion of more complex projects.
Besides not being a competitive contest, the programme of the FocFest - Freedom of Choice International Film and Video Peace Festival is although the result of a selection process that came from an international public announcement of which resulted the inclusion of a wide array of works from visual artists and directors from the most diverse geographical and cultural backgrounds. The exhibition is divided into three categories: the fictional and experimental film and video art (from installation to narrative fiction), the documentary (experimental and traditional) and animation (cartoons, multimedia and muppets).
The event aims to be, in a short term, a new audiovisual and thematic expertise festival benchmark (of film and video art) in Europe and in the rest of the world. The festival has an important feature already once being a production shared by three European countries, with shows taking place simultaneously in: Lisbon (Portugal) at the Fábrica do Braço de Prata in the next day 04, 05 and 06th December; in Yerevan (Armenia) at the NPAK / ACCEA - Armenian Center of Contemporary Art, also in the day of 04, 05 and 06th December; and in Istanbul (Turkey) at the Ciplak Ayaklar Studio in the day of 06 and 07th December of 2008. The simultaneous aspect of the event, makes of the FocFest, if not the most unique, at least, one of the most daring and exquisite audiovisual festivals in the world.

Jean-Gabriel Périot (France) "Even If She Had Been a Criminal - Eut-Elle Ete
Criminale" (2006: 10'00) - France, the summer of 1944, at the time of the Liberation.
The public punishment of women accused of having affairs with Germans during the
war... Abruptly the celebration turns to a cruel spectacle as we witness the public
humiliation and punishment of women accused of having affairs with German soldiers
during the war. Their heads are shaved, they are beaten and forced to paint swastikas on
their faces. As the camera pans through the crowd the film shows the shocking breadth
of emotion present: from the shame of the victims to the hatred and joy in the eyes of
the perpetrators, it is evident that the atrocities of the war lived on long after Hitler's
army was defeated.

David Kareyan (Armenia) artist for peace; - "No Return" (2002: 11'00) - Man,
trying to reach accommodation and harmony with himself, may have destructive
desires, and return to the roots by merging with nature... Often he seeks refuge in
religion. Sometimes he even resigns from all human attributes, but still is unable to find
what he is looking for. Figures dressed in religious robes accompany their ritualistic
movements with primitive and rough rhythms, as if calling their ancestors... These are
the rhythms, which awaken animal instincts...

hardly spoken of, and which grows in a woman's case when she is a daughter and a
mother.
Production: Spain.
Category: experimental/poetical.
Screenings: Festival premiere.
Bruno Larini (Italy) "Innesto Lirico" (2008: 6'00) A sort of spiritual, visceral and
prophetic travel of the author. Settled between video-art and performance this work
represents the involment of life in a continuous metamorphosis, one ancestral feeling of
the image in symbiosis with the intimate, artistic and anti-conformism id the author.
Production: Italy.
Category: experimental/social.
Screenings: Bizarro Film Festival (2008).
Gruppo Sinestetico - Matteo Albertin, Antonio Sassu, Massimo Perseghin and

Production: UK.
Category: experimental/social.
Screenings: Festival premiere.
Renata Padovan (Brazil) "Habeas Corpus" (2008: 7'20) is the union of sound and
image recorded separately. In a first moment a voice recorder was given to F.S., a
transsexual in the process of becoming a woman. F.S. speaks freely of her feelings, of
her childhood while growing up in a small countryside Brazilian town. In a second
moment a 5-year-old boy was asked to make a drawing, whatever he wished; the result
was very surprising. In the video the young boy neatly makes his drawing using colored
pencils as F.S. talks about herself and her childhood memories. Voice and image
together build up a statement, the fear of being ridiculed.
Production: Brazil.
Category: documentary/social.
Screenings: Festival premiere.
Renata Padovan (Brazil) "White Reflections" (2006: 1'54) White waves slowly
cover a red breakwater. As the water retreats the concrete structure is unveiled, just to
be hidden again, on and off, the screen becomes all white. In the sound track we hear
news about the war in Iraq and other international issues roughly broadcast on a radio.
The quality of the broadcasting makes it hard to discern the spoken words. At a certain
moment the sound of playing children is overheard, just to be suddenly broken by the
sound of a firing machinegun. The piece is meant as a break for reflection.
Production: Brazil.
Category: experimental/political.
Screenings: Narratives #2 at the Centre d'art Plastiques et Visuels de Lille (France :
2008); XXeme Instants Vidéo in Marseille (France: 2007).
Guli Siberstein (Israel) "Schizophrenic State" (2003: 6'00) Two images on my TV
screen: An Israeli soldier being lynched in Rammallah. A Palestinian child and his
father being fired at in Gaza. How can horror be constructed in words? It's a
schizophrenic situation - two sides trapped in a cycle of violence. And I`m in a
schizophrenic state of my own, watching this in New York - not here nor there. Are
these images real?
Production: USA/Israel
Category: experimental/political.
Awards:
Best Political Piece in Mixed Messages at New York New School University
Annual Competition (USA: 2007)
Guli Siberstein (Israel) "Beach" (2006: 4'55) A personal account in the form of an
out of tune TV broadcast; an accelerating stream of images, depicting a family on the
beach in Tel Aviv, is juxtaposed with a video of a girl running frantically on a bombed
beach in Gaza, only about 100 kilometres away. It's a reality where tranquillity turns
into horror in an instant, and where possibilities of the Real are repressed, raising
perceptual, existential and moral questions.
Production: Israel
Category: experimental/ political.

between past and present -2008 - 16 dakika
